Upholding the firm’s brand, leading strategic initiatives, and meeting the needs of each professional within the firm requires creativity, organization, and attention to detail. For Monica Fletcher, Senior Associate, Marketing, it is those skills that help her succeed in serving as Clearstead’s marketing “department of one.”
“No two days are the same,” Fletcher said, “So I really serve as a ‘jack of all trades’ and have learned to adapt quickly to a new project or responsibility. I’ve always loved researching information and learning about new things, which has served me well in this role.”
As a Senior Associate of Marketing, Fletcher directs the firm’s marketing initiatives, content, and branding. She has been with Clearstead for over four years and executes strategic marketing initiatives, creates deliverables to support client-facing professionals, and manages the firm’s digital content. She is also involved in business development activities and leads the Request for Proposal (RFP) response process for the Institutional Consulting Group.
She enjoys the new challenges and initiatives that each day can bring. “Being in this role is exciting since it presents opportunities to learn and implement new skills and projects. I also get to lead the creation and vision of marketing at the firm, with the guidance of our leadership.”
To recognize her efforts in this role, she was selected as EmpowHER’s 2021 Woman of the Year. This is the sixth year that EmpowHER, Clearstead’s women’s initiative, has recognized an accomplished woman in a leadership role at the firm.
Fletcher has seven years combined of marketing and administrative experience, holds a B.A. in English from Lake Erie College, and a M.A. in Literature from Cleveland State University.
She also serves on the EmpowHER Board and leads or contributes to several of the group’s subcommittees. “I really enjoy getting to collaborate with other women in the firm who I may not otherwise always get to work with through my usual responsibilities.”
Outside of work, Fletcher remains creative and enjoys participating in and supporting the arts, which includes attending shows at Playhouse Square and other local community theaters, going to the Cleveland Art Museum and local galleries, performing in shows at her local community theater, or attending dance classes. “I’ve been dancing since I was 9 years old, and it is great to have found a place that offers myself and other adults the ability to continue following our passion. Dancing is one of the few ways I can really relax and focus on myself.”
She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Zygote Press, a printmaking shop in Cleveland, as a member of the Volunteer Committee at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, and has gone through the process to become a Mentor through College Now Greater Cleveland.
Fletcher’s willingness to collaborate with other departments aligns her efforts with Clearstead’s values. “I really enjoy the collegial culture of the firm as well as the support I have gotten from leadership ever since I stepped into this role. Our executive team is very thoughtful, experienced, and creative. I value their input and encouragement when I meet with them every week.”
“Clearstead is a great place to grow,” she shared, “I enjoy working here and learning new things every day.” Emphasizing her enjoyment of taking on new projects, Fletcher’s love of learning and creating aids her in leading the firm’s marketing efforts.
